what to do with minimum retained?
Minimum retained, also known as minimum earned impacts the amount of the down payment necessary. Minimum retained cannot be financed. Policy or inspection fees are generally also not refundable. This is why Policy Fees are added to down payment directly. You do not need to fill in the specific amount of the minimum retained, however, the down payment must exceed the minimum retained.
HOW TO SEND IN A CONTRACT?
Anyway you would like. You can email it to [email protected] or you can use the uploader on Broker Tools page. https://www.meritfinance.net/new-app.html. The signed contract should be sent together with banking information and any specific direction regarding down payment. Should you not advise regarding down payment, Merit will presume that you collected it in full.
Down payment on Additionals?
Merit is very flexible. It seeks to help the customers as much as possible. Often we do not require the down payment irrespective of any other information.
What plan to select?
You choose. Any question on it, please ask. Plans are customized for your brokerage to give you market advantage. When in doubt choose what you think is best.
How to get set up?
You reach out to us any way you'd like. We can get you set up either with a demo account or a customized system within a few minutes.
HOW DOES THE Customer LOGIN?
The customers can login to view their account information by using the Customer Login Button on the Make Payments page. They require their Account Number and their Password to login. On this portal, they can also print their coupons, and can change their password.
CAN A CUSTOMER USE A CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD?
Yes. Customers can use their credit or debit card to pay for their down payment. They can also use these cards to pay for monthly payments. Convenience fees are unavoidable for things priced in dollars like a mortgage, taxes, tuition, insurance, etc. Customers can defer down payments by using the Down Payment deferral by credit card by spreading over up to a month. Payments may be made by US based persons from US debit or US Credit Cards too. Google Pay and Apple Pay Wallets are also available as payment mechanisms.
CAN A CUSTOMER USE ETRANSFER?
Yes. Be sure the sender is identified with a Merit Account Number and the name of the account holder.
WHAT IS CONTINUOUS PLAN?
Continuous Plan is an amazing device allowing the customer to pay monthly and avoid the need for a down payment on renewal. It also avoids need for paperwork and signatures on renewal. It only applies to 12 month contracts.

WHEN DOES MERIT WITHDRAW REQUESTED DOWNPAYMENTS?
Within business days of receipt of the completed contract. We can do it the same day, but typically it is the next day or the following day. We can defer withdrawal of down payment to a specific date.

We are open Monday to Friday and closed on Bank Holidays and Nova Scotia Statutory Holidays. To protect our team sometimes, we close for Snow or Weather situations.
